Quimbaya artifacts (also known as pre-Columbian aircraft, formerly called Birds of Otún) are gold and bronze figures typical of the Quimbaya culture dating from around 1000 AD. C., found in Colombia. Some have been classified as ooparts, because although archaeologists believe they represent animals, others say they look more like modern airplanes that did not exist back then. These objects are interpreted as zoomorphic figures of birds, insects or fish, rivers or the sea, despite the remoteness of the sea from the area where they lived, they had contact with the rest of the populations of the area. The one presented in the attached photo has a great resemblance to flying fish perhaps the swallow fish or the Flying Gunard, marine fish present in the waters of Colombia, which were simply represented by the quimbayas for religious reasons, as were the beetles in ancient Egypt. Some figures also have a head almost identical to that of the crocodile, such as those that inhabit Colombian rivers and marshes, but the other characteristics of these, such as a short tail oriented upwards or flat legs, prove that they have combined features of many animals and therefore the species represented by the quimbayas has not been determined despite the many similarities they have with marine fish. One interpretation is that they have been created as "toys", since at the bottom they have small rectangular handles to support them.

Replica of those found, made of gold-plated brass.

Also available for pendant or necklace.
